Okay...I read the piece and it ain't worth your time. Man, I thought this guy was funny at the Golden Globes or whatever he hosted and hoped he would have something witty and insightful to share. Other than him thinking about Easter, I find little else to really emphasize here.

Massive government intervention has made San Francisco one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. Creating token amounts of taxpayer-subsidized "affordable housing" does not undo the over-all damage that politicians have done by their severe restrictions on building. ... Subsidizing one particular location can indeed improve that particular location. Who could have doubted it? You could air-condition Hell if you spent enough money.

Reading on the Kindle...

Last Christmas Laura gave me a Kindle as a gift. Although I prefer an actual book, it was great for my train ride to and from work. What I like best about it is being able to download a book on the spot.

NYC Council to Ban Smoking in City Parks & Beaches...

It is nice not smelling like cigarette smoke after eating at a restaurant or having a drink at the bar. However I do miss the occasional second-hand smoke buzz.

It would be nice to know the reasoning behind the council's ruling. Cigarette butts on the ground is the most annoying aspect of smoking. Nail them for littering, not smoking right? I don't ever recall having a day at the park ruined by second-hand smoke. Keeping my toddler from picking up the discarded butts is the challenge.

With rulings like this, and the high taxes & cost of living, it makes New York less and less appealing (and feasible). It should be a kick in the rear for people to get involved in their local governments. I went to my first Town of Babylon board meeting. There were about 20 people there and 10 of them looked like staffers.

I read Sadat's autobiography, In Search of Identity, a few years ago. Although I do not remember specifics, I do recall enjoying his story.

5 servings per day myth

The line about a dollop of butter is my favorite. I prefer a "pad of butter" personally...either way a strategically placed dollop or pad is key.

We have been using this green phactor in smoothies to get our bodies to alkaline. I don't know if I believe the hype because it just doesn't seem natural to be 75% alkaline and 25% acidic. Rice and Grain are such a huge part of the world's diet and definitely comprise more than 25% of a meal. Take a look at this chart to see what I mean.

Radiant Floor Retrofit...

I am looking into radiant floor heat. Not sure if it would be economical to retrofit but I can probably do all the labor intensive installation myself. The technical plumbing/electrical will need to be left to the professionals.
